Can you guys offer book/article recommendations for understanding US foreign policy in the 20th century post WWII? I'm most interested in the events surrounding the Reagan administration's actions in Africa/South America as well as the Vietnam War.
I've only read parts of it, but have you checked out From Colony to Superpower: U.S. Foreign Relations since 1776 in the Oxford History of the United States Series?
Obviously it covers quite a lot more than post WWII, but at 1000+ pages the section from 1939 to 2007 alone covers about 600 pages.
edit: if nothing else, the bibliography and citations alone ought to be interesting as a reference to help you find further reading.
