I am American, and have a relatively good understanding of our Revolutionary war. I know that some of our royalists fled to Canada after the war and that a more distinct border was drawn between us. I am curious, since we are geographic neighbors with similar histories of colonization, why America went one way and Canada remained with Britain. Was it something about the culture, or did it make more economic sense, or was it that the British were just more entrenched in that area of North America? And did our revolution help pave the way for Canada to have an easier transition to co-equal commonwealth status with Britain later on?
