Lief Erikson was an Icelandic explorer who famously led a Norse expadition along the North American arctic coast and established the small Vinland settlement, now L'anse aux Meadows. He is generally credited as the first European to reach the new world, though the Vinland settlement was eventually abandoned and he returned to Iceland. Also to be pedantic: viking was a term for Norse coastal raiders, Erikson was just an explorer.

I have no idea what "hinga dinga dergan" means but I assume its some Norse language that someone else might be able to translate.
