The Haitian revolution was a conflict between Black slaves and their white owners, which the slaves eventually won. But did the Natives of the Island play a role in the Haitian revolt? Did they side with the slaves or the colonists? Did they even get involved in the war?
If you are referring to the “natives” they where called Tainos and by the time of the Haitian Revolution there where no remnants of Taino society left mainly due to the plagues and diseases that the Europeans brought over that they had no immunity against. However, modern DNA analysis has revealed that many of the people in the Greater Antilles are descendants of the Taino, no doubt as intermarriage was very common in the early Post Colombian era of Hispaniola.
