I’m doing Italian history as part of my A-Level course and we cover Italy from 1860 - 1945, so I’d like to do some extended reading around these years. Does anyone have any recommendations?
Christopher Duggan, 'The force of destiny: a history of Italy since 1796', (London: Allen Lane, 2007) is a good starting point, though the periodisation is not perfect for your purposes.
That is a very long time period, I don't think there's a single book that covers it all exhaustively. I would suggest you look at Italy in the Nineteenth Century by John A. Davis for the first half of the period you're interested in. I don't know what the verdict is on the definitive book on Italy during the World Wars.
