As the title says. The difference between literature of pre vs post WW1 has re-sparked my interest in the Great War & it's build up say the 100 years leading to it

Probably one of the most thorough analyses written in the last few years on the lead-up to the Great War is The Sleepwalkers: How Europe Went to War in 1914 by Christopher Clark. The research is incredibly thorough and focuses on a lot of areas that were previously underinvestigated, especially in Western scholarship. It gives an extensive background on conditions in Serbia and includes a lot of previously unexplored angles, such as the effect the fact that most of the French ambassadorial corps shared family ties had on decision making.
