So I'm wondering if you've seen examples of history books written in foreign languages that were translated into English in the modern era? I don't mean classic stuff like Caesar's Gallic Wars, but what a modern person might pick up in a bookstore.
Something like Saburo Ienaga's The Pacific War, but for any country/subject you're familiar with.
This is very common as most scholarship needs to be translated to English to reach an international audience. Just off the top of my head, Ernesto Guevara, Also Known as Che and The Shining Path: A History of the Millenarian War in Peru - two examples of probably hundreds of thousands.
