The Shah's policy of modernization and Westernization of Iran led to the Islamic Revolution. Why didn't the same occur in Turkey under Ataturk since he was pursuing a similar policy? Was the Shah really just more incompetent?
Was the process of westernization really the cause of the revolution? Or did more immediate issue cause the revolution and after the Islamic powers took control they retroactively made it about westernization?
