What happened to Jakob Ritter von Danner during Nazi Germany?

by Finisherofwar

He was the commander of the city garrison that brought down the Beer Hall Putsch. I know that hitler later made the men that died into state martyrs and had a rememberance day for the failed revolution.

My question is did he stay in power during the nazi regime? Did he retire? Generally just what happned to the man in between the moment hitler took power and the moment that Jakob Ritter von Danner died in 1942.

According to his entry in the German database of biographies, nothing at all happened to him. Danner was promoted to Generalleutnant in 1925 and retired the same year to serve briefly as president of the Bavarian War Association and later the Kyffhäuserbund (Kyffhäuser League), an umbrella organization for veterans and reservists but that only lasted until the late 20s and from all available information, he lived comfortably in retirement, never to be involved in politics or the public again. While his involvement in the Kyffhäuserbund shows that he was definitely on the right side of the political spectrum, there is no record of him doing anything other than being retired during the Nazi years and up until his death in 1942.
