Basically I am curious when military technology in Europe had recovered/advanced to a state where it would actually be better than the armour and weapons from the Late Roman Empire.
Follow up question: OP's question seems to assume that the Late Roman Empire's soldiers had the most "advanced" equipment. Is this the case, or are there instances where the equipment of soldiers in the Early Empire/Late Republic would have had more advanced/better equipment?
