I'd like to know what color the shirt, pants, and necktie (the dark thicker one) would have been. I think it was a dark navy blue shirt with white stripes and similar or the same color pants and going by an eBay listing for a uniform it seems like the tie would have been black. Can anyone confirm this for me please? Would the shoes have been restricted to black or would brown shoes have been allowed? Lastly, were they issued knitted winter hats and if so would they have been navy blue too? Thank you.
"Navy blue" is black, assuming this is the US navy (it looks like it)
The jumper and trousers would be black wool felt with white piping. The flat hats would also be black wool. The neckerchief would be black satin material. The whistle lanyard would almost certainly be white.
The shoes would be black. Brown shoes were approved only for aviators in khaki uniforms.
Knit watchcaps were issued, and were "navy blue" ie: black.
