Does the current alphabet/pronunciation in Scandinavian languages more or less line up with early English, before the great vowel shift?

I've learning a little Danish and noticed that it seems like most Danish vowels are pronounced much like the English vowel preceding it in the alphabet, but the constants are closeish to English, unlike, say Russian.
