I’m currently studying American history for my A-Levels and really want to support the text books with some podcasts/ audiobooks I’m looking at 1820-1880 time period
I️ really like “The Civil War (1861-1865): A History Podcast. Very in depth but accessible.
McPherson's "Battle Cry of Freedom" is available in audiobook format. Check it out, as it is really one of the most solid books on the topic out there.
I haven't found any Civil War podcasts that I've enjoyed yet. But if you are looking for supplemental material in general for studying the war, then I recommend the NY Times' Disunion blog. It followed the Civil War in "real time" 150 years later. The Times itself was founded a years before the war, so they can draw from their archives as well. It was great.
