Were the Scottish and English colonies in North America still separate after the Act of Union? Or was it just one big British possession officiously administrated by England?
What colonies are you thinking of? As far as I know, all Scottish attempts at colonizing North America had failed prior to the Act of Union. The disastrous failure of the last colonial venture, the colony in Panama, helped to precipitate the Act.
