Is the common suffix "-ix" on the end of Gallic names related to the Latin feminine suffix "ix" (possibly as a result of Latinizing the name) or is this coincedence?

Is there a connection between Vercingetorix, Ambiorix etc and words/names like Victrix? I know that names were sometimes translated not just transliterated but the fact that most of the Gallic names are male makes me think that it's probably a coincidence.

No, it seems pretty clearly to be cognate with Latin rex--note that both Vercingetorix and Ambiorix have the -rix ending, not just -ix. I think (I hope I'm remembering this right) that there's some dispute as to what precisely rix meant in Gallic, in that there's not really a ton of evidence for hereditary kingship. Vercingetorix's father, after all, was punished for aspiring to be king. Not sure if I got that bit right, but it's just rex
