Carrier's work on Jesus Mythicism is generally not engaged by the academic community (no reviews on JSTOR for example). He advocates a unique application of Bayes' theorem (which IS used in other scholarly disciplines) that doesn't seem to have garnered much scholarly response. Questions about his work come up frequently in /r/academicbiblical, which would be a good place to search for more information on the topic.
