I would prefer one that, somewhat like E.P. Thompson's William Morris: Romantic to Revolutionary, sympathises with rather than discredits or diminishes the writer's socialist politics.

also, any general grad-level surveys of Peruvian history and historiography 1900-1950 would be appreciated as well. such as a pre-quals phd student in a history dept would get handed in year 1. thanks
