As someone who reads a lot of American History (1800s/early 1900s), I am curious as to when and why there was a political shift in the 20th century from the Republican party being more widely supported in the north to now being more widely supported in the South.
What happened that cause the Republican party to lose support in Northern states and to gain ground in Southern states?
