I'm just wondering because things "evolve" and when things do that, other things become old. So in time, there were new and old things. Was there a market for older items in the 1800s & 1700s?
There was a private market for antiquities in the eighteenth and nineteenth century. No antique shops. Before the fifteenth century, at the earliest, people didn't place value on historical or antique characteristics. The practical utility of objects determined their value.
