Can any historians please talk about how it seems like a lot of the horrible acts that became more common place in the 1500s is often times mis-attributed to the Middle Ages?

I don’t think the Middle Ages were a particularly nice, but it always seems like the Middle Ages were a bit more tame compared to what came next based on a lot of stuff I’ve read.

Also, I assume you mean in a European context.
