Youtube channel and games?

by Nuvola_Rossa

Hi! Do you know some good youtube channel that talks about history in a simple but accurate way? I know there are plenty of them also depending on the subject but I would like to know if there are some that you particularly love... (Like ted ed for education and science)

And what about videogames? Any really based on history that allow you to learn something?

The Vlogbrothers run a channel called Crash Course that I really enjoy. The Crash Couse World History is hosted by John Green, I believe (The Fault in Our Stars guy). They cover Mesopotamia, to the Ottomans, to the Cold War, and recent history. Alongside the other topics, Crashcouse Phycology, Mythology, Sociology, Physics, and Philosophy(my favourite), you'll definitely find something interesting to watch.

The channel Extra Credits also has a series dedicated to history, though I haven't watched that it yet. He usually focuses on the art of games, teaching through gaming, and game development, and I enjoy the style they use for their main content, so I'm sure their other content is as enjoyable and of the same quality. Extra Credits actually has quite a few videos explaining the shortcomings and successes of "Historical Games" and has game suggestions too, though I'm not sure where to find them.

In short, games can do an exceptional job showing ideas and periods, people, and political climate rather than an accurate portrayal of history. Assasins Creed has many great and well made historical elements and introduces many figure, but is in no way portraying actual History.

P.S. This is my first Reddit post, so I apologize for any formatting errors or mis-types. I spent almost an hour putting this together. Let me know if I can do anything better😁 I am also on mobile, so I hope links work!
