With the recent news articles about the North Korean defector hosting tons of parasites, I feel this is an interesting topic.
How comparable is the health of the current defector to your average European Peasant during the Middle Ages? Would a farmer in Italy or Germany similarly be riddled with parasites?
I can tell you a bit of Bohemian lands... In 1381 there was a strong pestilence epidemic, decimated many families. Still, poor hygiene and feces in the streets were the biggest factor. To be honest, according to my research, even in that time it was quite common to live 70 years.
