When did "upper crust" leisure pursuits begin to differ noticeably from "lower crust" pursuits in the US?

I'm referring to equine activities like polo, racing and hunter/jumper, fly-fishing and wing shooting for examples of upper crust activities, and pursuits like bowling, bait angling, etc as examples of lower crust activities.

Basically - when did entertainment for the masses diverge into high and low cultures?

All of the activities you mentioned have always been expensive activities and therefore those of the upper class. The trend of how expensive a sport is to partake in as barrier to entry by social class continues to this day.

You’re trying to make an arbitrary distinction with your timeline and location.
