My partner and I are trying to do a project exploring antiquated laws throughout the United States, how they came to be, and what kind of impact it has created in these communities. The end goal is to use these laws as a way to bring the community together through through the quirkiness of them, and potentially increase tourism in these areas. If anybody has any resources that you could send me (literature, phone numbers, emails) we would be eternally grateful, and would give you credit when this is complete.
You'll probably get the best results by contacting individual local historical societies, whose employees and volunteers may well have done such research for their locality. Wikipedia has a list of county-level historical societies (as part of a bigger list, but I think you'll have better luck the more particular you get); the lists on this website are focused more on historical preservation groups but also include general historical societies and seem to have an eye towards the community-building and tourism components that interest you in the longer term.
This could make a neat "DIY tour guide" app. Good luck!
