A cursory read on Wikipedia about the New Model Army of Cromwellian England indicated that soldiers within the New Model Armys ranks would "draw lots to decide who would go on the expedition" as "as Ireland had a bad reputation amongst English soldiers" (from the Wikipedia page). I was hoping that someone here could shed light on if there are any actual accounts of New Model Army soldiers or officers commenting on Ireland being less desirable to fight in than elsewhere.
I'm not going to remove this post, but the way you've phrased the question is vague and unlikely to produce a good answer: "less desirable to fight in" is unclear and not unambiguously true. What will happen is that people will comment that "Actually lots of German soldiers WANTED to fight the evil Soviets," or "The REALLY important thing about the Eastern Front was the casualties," or whatever.
I strongly suggest you at least clarify what you mean by "Eastern Front" in the body of the question, or, better yet, delete it and resubmit a more specific question like "What did New Model Army soldiers think of fighting in Ireland?" or "Wikipedia suggests that New Model Army soldiers did not want to fight in Ireland; why?"
