Just like there is no one book that can capture all of World War II, there probably isn't one that can capture the entire movement.
Three I recommend (about the movement rather than the sensational stories) are:
SNCC: The New Abolitionists (A lot about Stokely Carmichael, a lot about the art of organizing. I read this a long time ago but it was amazing)
Body and Soul: The Black Panther Party and the Fight Against Medical Discrimination (more narrow subject matter but digs into actual organizing rather than the more dramatic parts of The Black Panthers)
Assata: An Autobiography (more personal but sheds light on the times and the ideas of the movement as well as the organized repression of the movement).
