Did any gliders actually get recovered by skyhook during WW2?

by aliasthehorse

Watching a documentary about the airborne invasion of Normandy, I see them touting the ability of the squadrons to recover gliders via what I assume is called a skyhook. If that's not what it's called then it should be.

Anyhow, did these ever actually get used? Do we have any idea how often? Was the glider piloted on the return trip?

Thanks!

The book "Lost in Shangri-La" describes an evacuation by sky hook - so, technically, the skyhooks did get used; however, the rescue took place in a remote part of New Guinea with no hostile activity nearby.
