Did soldiers during the medieval period suffer a greater deal of PTSD due to the nature of their combat being mostly upfront hand to hand combat ?

The thought came to me whilst watching the vikings (not the most realistic), they all have blood on their faces and are sometimes happy about it. I'm curious to know about all soldiers not just the vikings.
