Had this lying around for years. Was my aunt's; she traveled extensively in the 1950s, particularly in the Middle East and Africa. It's around 2.5" tall, made of wood, has rudimentary hinges holding all three pieces together. Can anyone read the text painted on here?

Just curious, thanks!

This is an Ethiopian triptych. The writing is in the Ge'ez script, but I can't read it clearly enough to tell you anything about what it says. (It's not a language I read, and I can't tell the letter clearly enough to work out a translation), but I can tell you for sure that it's Ge'ez. Triptychs are common in Christianity, and in East Africa they're not at all out of place.

Couldn't tell you anything about the date. The style's common enough, and there's nothing on there that's jumping out as indicative of the time it was made. None of the writing that you've shown are numerals. I would assume they're just captions for the figures in the painting.
