So I am doing a convoluted project for Latin (don't question it) where I am having to discuss several locations under the Roman Empire. One of my choices was the pyramids since Rome controlled Egypt for a good amount of time. When I search up "Pyramids under Rome" and similar key-words I keep coming up with the pyramid of Cestius so my question is this. What kind of condition were the pyramids (and I guess the Sphinx as well) in during the Roman Empire?
/u/khosikulu and /u/sunagainstgold answered The new Assassins Creed game is set in Ptolemaic Egypt, and yet the Pyramids are shown in their pristine form with white slopes and gold caps. Is this an accurate representation? and /u/mikedash answered In the time of Cleopatra were the Pyramids still being worshipped and kept in repair?. These were asking about the period right before the Roman conquest but the answers use sources from after to deduce their condition.
