I'm watching Washington State vs. Michigan State, and my cousin just said that Sparty is actually outfitted as a Roman. I don't know enough to argue, but that just seems untrue. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
This comparison of Greek, Roman, and Medieval armor by /u/Daeres might help:
How does Greek and roman Armor of the classical period compare to European Medieval armor?
The helmet isn't a Greek design:
The helmets in the Archaic Period were the famous Corinthian type, but later preferred types included the Chalcidian, the Thracian, and the Spartans ended up using the minimalist [Pilos](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pileus_(hat)#/media/File:NAMA_Greek_helmet_of_Pilos_type.JPG) type.
It's more like a Roman Imperial helmet, but with what seems to be a medieval helmet visor. Aside from that, it looks like the rest is Greek armor. At least, from the information given in the thread above:
A Spartan in this period would have worn a bronze helmet, bronze arm guards, a large wooden-base shield with a bronze coating, but also bronze leg guards and (most counter to 300's imagery) a bronze breastplate
