We arrived in the 16th century. The same century we arrived, large numbers of us got deported to Norway, Sweden and Finland, and a law got passed making being Romany punishable by death.

The following century saw Romany shipped of to Jamaica, Louisiana, Cuba, Virginia and Barbados as slaves. There are records of Romany slaves being owned by freed Blacks.

During the out time in England, we developed a new Romani Dialect - Angloromani, which takes Romany lexicon and English syntax and grammar. Many Angloromani words like Cushty, Mush, Chor and Dinlo are fairly popular among many non-Romany people.

We also invented things like Vardos, prior to this Romany used to use bender tents.

We also bred the horse breed known as the Gypsy Cob into existence around the same time we invented Vardos.
