Were the Great Pyramids ever used as a vantage point during a war?

by McCubbon

The Great Pyramids in Egypt being colossal rock structures would act as great vantage points, so I am wondering as to whether or not there were ever wars where the pyramids were a critical point. I am mainly wondering about wars that have taken place in the last 200 years.

I think I can definitively say that the answer to this is "no." The so-called "Battle of the Pyramids," despite some fictional depictions actually took place in Imbabah, about 8 miles northeast of the Giza Pyramids.

Otherwise, in the past 200 years, I don't believe there have been any battles in Cairo. Cairo was not, for example, a site of major battles in the Anglo-Egyptian War during the British occupation in 1882. It wasn't a site of any battles in either of the World Wars and it wasn't a site of any battles in the Arab-Israeli Wars.

The more relevant hypothetical such site in Cairo would probably be The Citadel, which has a commanding view of the city.
