I think a good place to start for you would be Ian Mortimer's The Time Traveller's Guide to Fourteenth-Century England (or, if you prefer early modern, The Time Traveller's Guide to Elizabethan England--you might find that some of the issues you're asking about are more relevant later). It's a solid, well-sourced book but written with a light and very readable tone that provides a great overview of what it was like to live back then.

Greenwood Press also has a series of "Daily Life" books, some of which might be of interest--Daily Life in Medieval Europe, Daily Life during the Black Death, Daily Life in Chaucer's England are the major later medieval ones. There are also more specialized volumes dedicated to topics like sports & games.

Happy researching!

It depends on the context and subject but generally, the 1600s (or 17th century) is not considered Medieval. When looking for sources I would recommend the phrase "early modern era" or Renaissance.

Again, the time period nomenclature depends on a few factors. For example, my Music History professor considered Renaissance music to begin in the 1400s whereas Renaissance literature (depending on geographic location) starts in a later time period.
