Today:
Welcome to this week's instalment of /r/AskHistorians' Sunday Digest (formerly the Day of Reflection). Nobody can read all the questions and answers that are posted here, so in this thread we invite you to share anything you'd like to highlight from the last week - an interesting discussion, an informative answer, an insightful question that was overlooked, or anything else.
I was glad for a chance to write a bit (and a bit late) about "mestizos" moving from Spanish America to Spain - one of those questions that made me wonder about a development in a different way than before.

Took me a week to just gather all the content for answer lol
Hello! I asked a question regarding Byzance and the ratio of land owning between the state and the landed aristocracy (and free holding farmers) but did not get a response. Thanks in advance !
I can't thank /u/sunagainstgold enough for answering my question about the history behind the acceptability of transgender individuals in Thai culture.
/u/NMW made a wonderful post on the intersection of women's suffrage movement and disability with the story of Rosa May Billinghurst.
Was out of the country at the beginning of the week, so I'm sure I missed some good stuff from the first few days, but still plenty on the tail end!
/u/the_howling_cow answered "In "Born in the USA" Springsteen sings "Got in a little home town jam/So they put a rifle in my hand/Sent me off to a foreign land/To go and kill the yellow man". Is he referring to some kind of punishment where troublemakers would be drafted during the Vietnam war, or something else?" and on "Why did the US military stop using water cooled machine guns?2"
/u/mikedash answered "How do historians draw general "rules" or find trends in empires, such as Rome and Britain, that can be indicators of rise, or even decline and imminent fall?"
u/Klesk_vs_Xaero explained all of the things about fascism in this answer.
The awards post reminded me of something I vaguely remember: was there ever a question here about the identity of "the gay rapper", aka the closeted rapper interviewed by One Nut magazine in 1996 or 1997? I remember reading something about this (and I think the answer was that he was still anonymous, while giving more background on gay people and perceptions of gay people in hip-hop around that time), but nothing came up in the search, so I don't know if the question was deleted or if I read about it somewhere else.
Read Empire of the Summer Moon. The Commanches and other tribes seriously hindered westward expansion. Also, The Rocky Mountains were extremely difficult to cross before the railroad was finished.
