Just as a tip for you in order to heighten chances of an answer: I'd recommend re-phrasing the question since in its current state, who "we" is, is a bit unclear and "why didn't" or "why don't" questions are generally harder to answer. I'd suggest re-phrasing as: "What is the state of historiography on the Italian Military in WWII and why does there seem to be such a dearth in pop-cultural portrayals when compared to other fighting powers?"
