There will be a good deal more to say, but I wrote about one of the earliest manifestations of the - essentially anti-semitic - Rothschild conspiracy theories, this one concerning profiteering from the Battle of Waterloo, a few weeks ago in this thread. The ideas you reference are descendants of these early libels.
