I do a lot of alternate history mapping for fun, and was thinking of working on what would happen if the Crusades were more successful. When I was trying to figure out the effects of this, I remembered the Teutonic Knights in Königsberg. This brought up some questions.
I know the Crusaders weren't one distinct group, so were the Teutonics just a band of Crusaders? If not, where did they come from and why are they often confused with these other groups? And what about the Knights Templar?
More can always be said and /u/Rhodis is deus magnus. Here are some of his previous answers on the topic.
