I can’t remember the title of this book!

by chekgoot

It’s about the imperialism of africa and how one of two tribes who made up most of the population killed the other.

It had a title that really grabbed you like First they had us do something terrible to our family

I just can’t remember.....

Hi there,

If you're recalling the Rwandan Genocide, the book you're probably trying to think of is the well known We Wish to Inform You That Tomorrow We Will Be Killed with Our Families by Philip Gourevitch.

If the book you recall deals explicitly with the legacy of colonialism and its role in the Rwandan Genocide, it may also be When Victims Become Killers: Colonialism, Nativism, and the Genocide in Rwanda by Mahmood Mamdani, although this piece is far less well known.

I hope this helps.
