I don’t know if this is the best question to ask, but it is always portrayed in media that in Middle Ages and after, usually people wore steel armor or chain mail. But yet during the revolution, most people wore common clothes or uniforms. Wouldn’t wearing armor have been more effective against early muskets and other weapons?
