What is this about? I have always heard that Poland was cooperative with Nazi Germany in constructing and sending people to these concentration camps. Has that always been a result of how “history is written by the victors”? Or is this revisionist history attempting to try and change history.
I thought it was interesting since I had recently read a post on reddit claiming that it’s illegal in Poland to even suggest they played a role in the concentration camps.
Thanks!
There has been some commotion over a new polish law stating that 'whoever accuses, publicly and against the facts, the Polish nation, or the Polish state, of being responsible or complicit in the Nazi crimes committed by the Third German Reich… shall be subject to a fine or a penalty of imprisonment of up to three years'. This has been criticised because it is seen as anti-free speech and possibly targeted at academics who have highlighted instances of collaboration by individuals with the Nazi regime. You can find discussions of the extent of collaboration by u/marisacoulter here, and by /u/commiespaceinvader here and here.
