I am curious to know if there were slave fights in American history. I was thinking that something like that may have occurred at the time.

In the movie Django Unchained a main plot point is slaves fighting to the death for the owners enjoyment. Did this actually occur?: the source is a Slate article, but a major source in it is David Blight of Yale University, "the director of Yale’s center for the study of slavery". Was execution of slaves when they weren't financially viable common in the south?: not directly applicable, but comments by [deleted] and /u/PubliusPontifex have some applicability.
"Watching Django, Weren't Slaves Too Expensive to Kill or Maim?": 5 years old, not up to current standards, which is why I'm not linking to it, just warning about it.
