Today:
Welcome to this week's instalment of /r/AskHistorians' Sunday Digest (formerly the Day of Reflection). Nobody can read all the questions and answers that are posted here, so in this thread we invite you to share anything you'd like to highlight from the last week - an interesting discussion, an informative answer, an insightful question that was overlooked, or anything else.
My name is sunagainstgold and I'm here to say
I will shill /u/hillsonghoods' answer on early hip hop culture any day!
/u/Klesk_vs_Xaero wrote about daily life on World War One's Italian front in a response that showed a ton of effort for a very vague question.
I really liked /u/DGBD's answer to the question "How did the word "negro" transfer out of acceptable nomenclature?", which includes a great use of primary sources to illustrate a range of attitudes toward the word.
I can't thank /u/Vinkosaurus enough for his really awesome answer to my question about what would have driven the Czech part of my family out of the Austro-Hungarian Empire in the 1860s/1870s.
/u/KingSetoshin wrote about African cultural symbolism in Black Panther.
/u/cdesmoulins wrote about bathhouse culture in Medieval Bohemia
Serious shout-out to /u/restricteddata's absolutely wonderful and multifaceted answer to the question "Was the 1950's/60's 'duck and cover' method of escaping nuclear fallout widely believed by the students to which it was taught?"
Busy week so not able to read as much as I'd have liked (I mean, I'm posting this Tuesday which should also be evidence, there), but better late than never!
/u/ClemenceauMeilleur on Why was France given so much say/power at the end of WWII?
/u/cdesmoulins on "Who were the famous actors during Shakespeare's time?"
