In the film "In This Corner of the World," civilians taking taking shelter during an air raid are told to "Open their mouths so that your eyes don't pop out." Could shock waves cause your eyes to pop out?

The film focuses a great deal on the air bombings on Kure during WW2, in the scene the main character and her niece seek refuge in a air raid shelter. A woman screams at them "Open your mouths so that your eyes don't pop out." shortly before bombs drop close by.

Could shock waves really do that if you kept your mouth closed?

That’s more of an /r/askscience question.
