I’m watching “I Love Lucy” and it just occurred to me that multiple shows of that era had people sleeping in separate beds. Was this actually a wide spread practice or just something invented by television? I’ve never seen separate beds like that in real life, but I can’t claim to spend a lot of time in older peoples bedrooms.
