Heyo! Wanted to ask this question here for obvious reasons :P Basically, I hear a lot of people discussing where contact between Europeans and Indigenous Americans took place before columbus. I remember hearing about an account of an Irish monk travelling to America long before Columbus, and that the Vikings reached the continent as well. I am sure these both happened, yet I see countless debates online whether the Europeans reached America or vice versa. Any confirmation on this?
There's always room for discussion but perhaps the section Travel and contact across the Atlantic and Pacific before Columbus from our FAQ will answer your inquiry.
