Books on WWII from the German or Japanese perspectives?

Can you recommend any books on the subject written from their viewpoint. I’ve always wondered how that would differ from the vast amounts of American litterateur available.

I recommend “The Forgotten Solder” by Guy Sajer. Story of a French German kid serving in the Wehrmacht on the Eastern Front in the final years of the war. Very interesting perspective on a common German soldiers’ rationale for fighting plus a lot of memorable scenes etched in my mind.
