The 198th infantry division wasn't part of the Afrika Korps. It took part in the attack on Denmark in 1940 and was part of the occupying force in France before going to the East and forming part of XXX corps in the 11th Army of Army Group South in the invasion of Russia in 1941. It was transferred to 17th army following the break up of the 11th army in 1942 and later served as part of 8th army (at Kursk) and 4th Panzer Army. By 1944 it had been reduced in size and scope to a combat group and was sent to the south of France to be rebuilt.
As part of 19th Army in southern France it was largely destroyed during Operation Dragoon. What was left was mopped up in the fighting for the Colmar Pocket and around Stuttgart in 1945.
The 198th did however serve with Italian troops on the Eastern Front while it was in the XXXXIXth Mountain Corps of the 17th Army in 1942. The Italian Expeditionary Corps in Russia was also part of 17th army at the time.

BTW the wiki page (not that that's encouraged) for the 198th is on the German language wiki site and includes several German language sources for the division's history.
