I’m particularly interested in art and poetry, and how this was influenced by the Florentine moral conscious in the aftermath of the Black Death. Can anyone recommend authors, journals, and books that pertain to this topic? Thank you.
Brunelleschi’s Dome, nonfiction about the construction of the Duomo
If you are interested in Florentine moral consciousness in the Renaissance and its relations to art, you're probably familiar with the story of Savonarola. An interesting account of it is Paul Strathern's "Death in Florence: The Medici, Savonarola, and the Battle for the Soul of a Renaissance City" (Pegasus: 2016).
Maybe this is not quite what your looking for, but I really enjoyed ‘The Feud that Sparked the Renaissance’ about Brunelleschi and Ghiberti. It covers their whole lifetimes and includes a lot of context about Florence in general during their times. Also I just started Bartlett’s ‘The Italian Renaissance’ lectures from the Great Courses and it’s fantastic, very in depth.
