I'm having trouble finding comprehensive sources on the years leading up to World War one, I can only seem to find things which relate directly to the war What I'm looking for is an analysis on the tensions leading up to the war or primary sources relating to this.

I'd recommend the Sleepwalkers by Christopher Clark, it's in the askhistorians booklist. I'd also recommend July 1914 by Sean McMeekin for a great overview of the July Crisis.
